Yon Murua

Yon holds a Law Degree from the University of Deusto (2009), having finished his studies in the Catholic University of Leuven (KU Leuven, Belgium). Yon also completed the Port Companies and Maritime Law Course from the University of Deusto – Basque Maritime Administration School (2011).

Yon started his professional career in the field of insurance brokerage within Grupo Banco Guipuzcoano (currently Banco Sabadell) supporting insured companies in different types of claims and handling accidents under insurance policies. Afterwards, Yon started specializing in international maritime and transport law during the years in a prestigious Spanish law firm where he acquired ample experience in the field advising prestigious freight forwarders, carriers, national and international P&I Clubs, among others; experience he now keeps building up in AIYON Abogados working hand in hand with the rest of the lawyers.

Throughout his career, Yon had the opportunity to intervene in a number of contentious and non-contentious matters, mainly related to multimodal transport, national road transport and transport under the CMR convention, revisions of insurance policies and handling of accidents under insurance policies, sanctioning proceedings, air passenger and baggage claims, etc. Moreover, Yon worked for the Pasaia Port Authority (Port of Pasajes), supporting and advising various departments in Administrative and Harbour Law, which allowed him to get to know day-to-day operations carried out in state ports.
