On June 2, 2016, the Andalusian Council of Chambers of Commerce held the ‘Forum for the development of logistic infrastructure, growth and employment in Andalusia’ in Antequera (Malaga/Spain). The main companies of the Andalusian transport sector and our colleagues of AIYON ABOGADOS SLP, Enrique Ortiz and Jose Dominguez, experts in the areas of Shipping Law, Transport Law, International Trade Law and Insurance Law, attended the event.
The event was closed by the President of the regional Government of Andalusia, Mrs Susana Diaz. Three roundtables were conducted:
- In the first one, the Chairmen of the 7 Port Authorities of Andalusia (Huelva, Seville, Cadiz, Algeciras, Malaga, Motril and Almeria) showed the characteristics of their respective ports, advocated for the ports specialization and complementation and addressed the role of the State Ports in this Autonomous Community of Andalusia.
- The second round table focused on infrastructure and logistics in this area.
- The third round table highlighted the importance of logistics in the business globalization.
Finally, all attendants proceeded to sign a memorandum conveying their trust in the “decisive impulse” that the event meant in order to facilitate the completion of the works and thus improve the infrastructure and the logistic connection in Andalusia (mainly of the railway), providing an easier shipment of cargo from the ports and logistic centers of Andalusia to the North of Spain and Europe and ultimately translating into an improvement of the competitive capacity of the Andalusian region.
