JOSÉ ANTONIO DOMÍNGUEZ
José holds a Law Degree from the University of Deusto (2007) and a Master’s degree in Port Companies Management and in Maritime from the same university (2006). He also attended a Master’s Programme in Maritime Law from the University of Oslo/Scandinavian Institute of Maritime Law (Norway, 2008).
He also holds a Degree in Seamanship and Maritime Transportation from the University of the Basque Country (2005) and a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Navigation from the University of La Laguna. José has worked as a deck officer on passenger and ro-ro vessels. He also holds several STCW Certifications and Courses as a professional deck officer (OOW Certificate, GMDSS Certificate, ARPA Certificate, and Professional Yacht Master, among others). As a lawyer, José has attended a several seminars and courses on his area of expertise, such as on Insurance and Civil Liability offered by P&I Clubs.
He has wide experience in Maritime Law, acquired throughout the years he worked in Fernando Meana Green & Co., more specifically in collisions, striking, salvage, cargo claims and personal injuries, where his experience as a Mariner is of immense importance in addition to his legal training and background. As a partner of AIYON Abogados, since 2015, José provides advice, both contentious and non-contentious, to all kind of maritime transport operators. His experience includes high-profile cases. He has also experience in advising on charter parties and bill of lading, contract of affreightment (COA) or complex logistics contracts for large export / import companies, land and multimodal transport, recreational nautical industry, sanctioning proceedings, Port Legislation, registration of yachts and vessels, ship and off-shore building contracts as well as recognition and enforcement of foreign judgments and arbitration awards.
